A Request For Help

On July 11, 2007 with the beat of our son’s heart in the background we were told by our OB/GYN as well as a perinatal specialist that I was in full labor and that our little boy would not make it. I was only 19 weeks pregnant and it was just too soon for him to be born and there was no way to stop it. The week before we had learned that his twin sister had passed away in utero…

Losing them devestated my husband and me as we had waited 6 long years to get pregnant. It wasn’t the way we imagined it ending. We did not give up our dream of having a family. We went back to our fertility doctors to try again and were blessed a second time.

On July 9, 2008 I gave birth to Matthew who entered this world kicking and screaming with the spirit of his older brother and sister always surrounding him. I credit him arriving safely to the hands of incredible doctor’s and nurses who I had seen almost every week of my pregnancy and in some weeks twice a week.

As Matthew’s mommy and daddy we can feed him when he’s hungry, comfort him when he’s sad, play with him when he’s being silly. We can take him to places near and far. Show him lions at the zoo and the beauty that is the ocean. We can one day take him to Disney World to meet the infamous Mickey Mouse. We can celebrate birthdays and Christmases. We can give him everything he needs and more.

As mommy and daddy to the twins there’s not much we can do. We can tell their story, and let Matthew know he has a big brother and sister watching over him and make sure we never forget. And we can raise money for the organization March Of Dimes which helps families of premature babies and provides funding to doctor’s trying to help stop babies from being born to soon. They help to educate mothers on advocating for themselves on behalf of the children growing inside of them. It is an amazing organization to be a part of.

It’s with great pleasure, as Daniel and Hope’s mom, dad and little brother to ask you to be a part of our journey. To help us raise money so maybe one day no more doctor’s have to tell heartbroken mothers and fathers that their baby is going to die and there’s nothing they can do to help them. Help us so that there are fewer little brothers without their big brothers and sisters to grow up with.

Please come walk with us on April 27th. We’re walking down at the boardwalk in Ocean City, NJ and would love to see all of you there! If you cannot walk with us then please donate money to our team. Even $5 helps. You can also help us by passing this email on to anyone you think can donate money to our team. Every little bit helps.
